So what would be a 'good' way to handle closure of a guild conflict or war? Also, new topic maybe?

i didnt mean to offend you, luminier, and i think we both agree that war wasnt the best roleplayed situation from both sides.

however, i did chose it because it was mentioned before, could have taken other examples, too.

insects attacking the gate, you die as asral cleric..does that mean you stay off the fight and let arborea fall?

sathonites going for elvandar, you as tanielite...

dying deep in a mine on thursday evening losing all your stuff, is reattacking a faux-pas?

sometimes you need to play something else than the groan, tremble and staying off the battle, which doesnt mean it isnt a role you still play

well I don't really want to get into that topic, and there are already plenty of open topics about that already.

we can still talk about rping deaths in a war though.

No offence taken, I just wanted to express some of my feelings.

I think that if you die defending the Asralite keep or Arborea, you should not go back into battle to fight the insects again.

I think that if you die defending Elvandar from Sathonites, you should definitely not go back into battle to fight those players again.

Dying deep in a mine on Thursday is something quite crappy. It also complicates things. Firstly you know OOC that your items will disappear. So you make an IC decision to go to the bottom of the mine to get your stuff back. The fact that items disappear is an OOC thing, ideally there would not have to be reboots or reboots wouldn't eat custom items or something. You should also not be going down deep into a mine on a thursday before reboot in case you do die, or suffer the grave consequences.

I think no matter how rough and tough you think you character is, death should still be roleplayed. The fact that you can die and come back to life in Geas is simply a convenience for the player and shouldn't be taken for granted OOC or IC.

If you are bested by anyone, I feel like it is your duty as a player to try your best to suck it up and roleplay defeat. It sucks for everyone, Mazar isn't special, Luminier isn't special.

Is it? This is something that always bothered me a little. There are IC consequences for death. Your character actually does become weaker and even though it's up to the players to roleplay feeling or being weaker because the game shouldn't roleplay how you feel, the fact is that your character is exactly this much weaker. If you go to a dangerous place while being weak, then your character is being stupid. At that point, you are roleplaying AND playing being stupid, which is not necessarily bad roleplay. The roleplaying is just implicit in your actions.

Resurrection is an IC event and completely supported by the game world. I wouldn't like to have to consider resurrection as an OOC thing because it REALLY complicates matters. I guess the point here is how scared of death should our characters should be. How painful death and resurrection is and how much do you really care when Gods will just bring you back. I like the approach where characters should not take for granted that you will be resurrected, but things get complicated when the character is a cleric, don't they?

Does bad roleplay actually exist or is all roleplay, good or bad, just roleplay.

Yes your character gets weaker and it is your job to decide whether or not you want to roleplay the death you just had or just ignore it. I feel like just ignoring it is weird. After you've died for the 10th time and resurrected, how do you roleplay that? the 100th? the 1000th?

Imagine a world where 99% of the populations dies normally but then 1% of people are resurrected when they die everytime. I think if you imagine that, youll have an idea of how things might be in the world of Geas and how a person might roleplay that.

I agree that resurrection is an IC thing and not an OOC thing. I also would like to know how much a god really cares when he resurrects Luminier vs Mazar vs some newbie.
