Since the debate is degrading into finger-pointing and attempted mockings of intelligence at this point, I think I'll just call it an end here.

Hmm.. if you guys care so much about how things go in your country and involved really that much into politics (aka common cases) I simply can't get how come the US is like it is.

Or it might only seem you're involved and do nothing else but repeat what others say? Quote the analysis from the TV or newspaper?

I'm very well aware people in my country simply don't really care, but do as if they would in times of elections. Why do I say so?

I know some things about economy. Trust me economical consumption governs the policy of industries, not to mention political consumtion and parties. If people simply don't buy a certain product they won't produce it. In our country people like to talk about the same things you guys did, but mainly don't move a finger to change anything. They pinpoint the mistakes of someone else and they're simply done with it. They do like to argue about ecological disasters but not a chance they'd stop buying things that are sold for less but ecologically dangerous to produce them, or change the way they live in any meanings to achieve their goals.

So.. I know why my country looks like as it is now. I know very well that no election or president can influence people into change their way of life over a certain point. Presidents, senators, political parties, the government or any company simply won't try to change anything if there's no social pressure on him towards changing things. Why do I tell you this? Without first making a nation-wide agreement in the basics.. be that moral, war, economy or anything else, you won't be able to change anything. As long as the majority of citizens don't have a firm opinion or they don't even agree but argue each other in these cases, nothing will happen. No matter the cost, no matter the consequences. Up to the point the argue itself and the desire to "win over the other side" is stronger than the will of change, nothing will happen...

I know.. it is like this in my country..

Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner!

I would say the majority of Americans are heavily influenced by what they read in the newspaper or see on T.V. They just regurgitate it back out because it is written or spoken in a way that they feel it directly effects them. I am surprised McCain got as many votes as he did, with the obvious media biased weighing heavily towards Obama.

Yep, Herst said it right.
Obama won 70% of people 30 yrs and younger because, well, he talks smoother then McCain, is younger, and the media was biased.

Or because McCain sold his soul to the far right Evangelicals and basically spewed shit from his mouth for 6 months? The only people that that kind of rhetoric affects is the people who already believe it.

Or because he appealed to them more. If it were people believing in TV, we could say McCain owes the Muslim/Terrorist/Socialism/God-Hating/Unpatriotic ads against Obama as what won him votes. As well as the attempts to trick Democrats into thinking they were supposed to vote on the 5th, while Republicans voted on the 4th.

As for the media being biased... well, Palin and McCain have no one to blame but themselves for giving comedians material to mock them with. And the media wouldn't have spent so much time debunking McCain ads if he hadn't actually attempted to exaggerate the truth so much. One example that comes in mind is cutting out the start and end of a statement Obama said, and using the incomplete snippet out of context to call him 'dishonorable' and suggestively unpatriotic: http://www.newsweek.com/id/162686

It might buy the vote of someone that believes what they hear, but for those that actually research political advertisements, it tends to cause the reverse effect.
