Indeed.

I feel misrepresented though. Nothing like an old good max charged 'slay' juke attack. Maybe it's time to redraw that graph.

Btw, what's this craziness about cannibalism?

Perhaps the cannibalism started to be en vogue after they abducted a halfling cook for Asador. And gave that cook only one kind of ingredient ...
Best race: halflings.

I think human sathos like it because it allows you to see in the dark better, so they can run around with darkness up. Which makes perfect sense pvp wise, just depends on if that's a RP move they want to make for their char.

Afaik it has never been changed. There's a lot of misconceptions running around about the power of the sathonite spells. Truth is that, spell by spell, they're ALL less powerful than the Taniel alternatives. The only exception is drain, and it's an exception because of it's unique effect, not because of the spell's power (=damage).

Taniel spells also have something unique that Sathos do NOT have. A spell that does more damage to evil creatures.

So yeh. Satho spells suck.

Hmm. Always wondered about that ... still don't know what changed but I can name 3 different Sathos who all happily used the slay miracle in the past and today noone seems to want to do so (of the Sathos the last ~8 OOC months).
I always kind of assumed it was because slay got weaker.

Easy to explain.

You have to enter melee combat and manage to hit your enemy. That means you have to fight aggressive, which is very bad against Crussies, because it makes it much easier for them to score a head crit. So if you try to hit the Crussie a counterattack will probably cut your head off or split your skull. Should you hit and survive, the damage dealt is small and not worth that risk at all.

Against a Taniel it would just be suicide, their "defensive" miracle that can nearly instakill you, no kidding.

Therefore, slay is quite useless today.

power of miracles is also linked to earthly power. if your's is balls and their's is amazing you will get rocked by one of their strongest spells of course.

well like I said, slay sucks. So many other way better combinations of spells. Still I agree, Taniel spells are probably better. Asral spells also have their place.

How can you guys say slay sucks ... it was all what the old Sathos did ... :(

But then again miracles worked differently back then, slay always interrupted the miracles of the opponent cleric reliably as well. Which today isn't really possible. :)

Err, no it didn't. It never has. Slay just did damage, period.

In my opinion this is incorrect.

Here parts of old logs:
Dragan throws his head his head back and spreads his arms, wrincing in pain as if liquid fire surges through his veins.

Jezz walks in.

You are physically somewhat hurt and mentally indisposed.
You are somewhat alert.

Dragan wrinces and shakes as if he is either in great pain or ecstasy. Then
he calms down and looks down on his hands, having a wicked grin on his face.

You start to chant the prayer and to make the gestures for the 'cause pain' miracle.
Your wounds start to bleed.
Dragan tries to punch your torso, but you avoid the attack.

You can only laugh about such a silly attempt.

As Dragan touches you, some divine power leaves his hands and impacts into
your body, destroying flesh and nerves!
ARRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

You abort the miracle 'cause pain'.

Dragan looks at you.

Jynn shoots a wooden arrow at Dragan.
Dragan is missed by a wooden arrow.
You are physically not in a good shape and mentally worn down.
You are bleeding.
You are somewhat alert.
Second example:
Dragan wrinces and shakes as if he is either in great pain or ecstasy. Then he calms down and looks down on his hands, having a wicked grin on his face.
Dragan thrusts his left fist at your right arm, but your heavy chainmail
deflects all damage.
Your wounds start to bleed.
As Dragan touches you, some divine power leaves his hands and impacts into
your body, destroying flesh and nerves!
ARRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!
You abort the miracle 'cause pain'.
You are physically not in a good shape and mentally degraded.
You are bleeding.
You are alert.
The second example may have been by the thrust with the left fist hitting the armour and thus causing the abort, but the first example only shows the slay hit.
Best race: halflings.

Oh man the english in those logs is epic.

It wasn't slay specifically though. I think it was you who mentioned actually in another thread that it used to be possible to interrupt miracles by doing a number of different things.

Anyways against a Cleric of Taniel who knows a little bit about the miracles they have or a Crusader who is wielding any kind of decent weapon, slay is not the choice you want to go with. Maybe before it was somewhat good, it's really not now.

I still haven't found a way to interrupt miracles other than leaving the room.
