japan. kicking our asses societal-advancement-wise every step of the way it seems.

on the topic of medical bills bankrupting people, that sounds not good to me. but then you think would you rather be homeless and alive, or dead with a home? but then you wonder why people have to make such a horrible decision.

Medical bills shouldn't be able to bankrupt people.

Unfortunately true - the only real tool that the government has with regard to health care is the right to enforce price ceilings with guns. If you limit what one party pays you limit what the other party makes. When this is done voluntarily it is called "bargaining"; otherwise, it is called "creating an artificial shortage."

Agreed in principle; however, the cold reality is that health care requires effort, and effort requires compensation to the tune of what it takes to cover the cost of a good education in medicine. With higher education having its own share of difficulties controlling costs, there is a lot of trouble forthcoming seemingly regardless of what happens.

But back on topic... soon enough we will see whether the US women's hockey team can avenge the annihilation of the US women's curling team. :)
