fun tintin code

#1 Post by ghalt » Sat Mar 23, 2013 1:27 am

Apropos of nothing, I swear.
>x board
32: Holidays (Nathan, Mar 2)
33: Phelan (Tanriel, Mar 3)
34: >Phelan (Nathan, Mar 3)
35: >>Phelan (Tanriel, Mar 4)
etc, etc

Code: Select all

#SUBSTITUTE {{\(\w+,\s+\w\w\w\s+\d+\)}}={CENSORED}
>x board
32: Holidays CENSORED
33: Phelan CENSORED
34: >Phelan CENSORED
35: >>Phelan CENSORED
etc, etc.
it's probably similar in other clients. It also probably explodes on 1 or 2 ascii art using books.

I keep forgetting to look for a lack of signing. Now I can guess correct attribution with wild abandon!

On a side note (screw it, it's OOC chat I DERAIL WHEN IT WANT) I really wish that people would respect the fact that the stuff in brackets is actually OOC not IC. Not everyone signs their notes and some people wish to have an anonymous opinion.

Plus then you have the IC drama of "I didn't write that!!!" =D

I think perhaps when you write a note you can either sign your name at the end or leave it blank.

Code: Select all

>note Phelan
I hate Phelans smelly feet.
**
Do you want to sign this note? y/n?
(hitting 'y' means that you will sign with your characters registered name within the city, hitting 'n' means that you will leave this note unsigned.)
Can we has code plox
The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world.

My poor thread. Derailed on first response. :'(

But yeah, I find OOC information much easier to ignore if I don't actually know it in the first place. And for posts, if someone didn't put "**unsigned**" I tended to not notice it was a secret author.

I like your signing idea, so long as forging isn't really possible. (I think forged notes would get out of hand waaaayyyy quick, day one.)

I think that's a good idea, the option to sign it or leave it anonymous, which then would put (Anonymous, date).

Mmmhmm, because Ghalt magically knew that it was Aturshus who left a note about his pants on the alchemist board. Need a fix. :P
