your height and weight

If it's no bug or an idea, but it's still MUD-related, it goes here.

your height and weight

#1 Post by Chikatilo » Wed Dec 10, 2008 9:57 pm

Currently, how does your height or weight affect gameplay?

Does it affect stats (str & con up, dex & agi down)?
Any moves become more effective (bodycheck comes in mind)?
Or just nothing at all?

Opinions?

Im pretty sure it's purely cosmestic. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Height + weapon length affects probable hit locations = Halfling with a dagger most likely hits the legs and feet of a giant.

Weight is checked in some places atleast.

General bodymass (I could be very wrong here, not sure where I picked these from) affects taking critical hits and stealthy activities.

The larger you are the larger armour/clothes required.

OH well if you mean it THAT way. Then yes.

If you are a larger character taking a hit will mean you bleed more. As evidenced by enemies like giants and ogres. There are some places you can't go if you weigh too much. Tall tshaharks have a much easier time hitting the upper torso of a giant or the head of an ogre, where as a halfling, like Delia said, would have a hard time hitting anything above the leg. Armours weigh less for characters with less height and weight. And some armours that would fit a human would not fit you if you were say... a dwarf.

Halflings Dwarves - short
Halfelves Elves Humans Darkelves - average
Tshaharks - too big =P

when talking about size I mean among the same race. So it would show if 2 halflings of very different sizes would fight?

Whatever.

2 halflings probably wouldn't fight. They would just make love........and mischief.

Certain heights effect in what hands you can wield something in as well.

Like a short or very short elf can wield a shortsword from the nibblers in both hands. But not a normal heighted elf.

I suspect there are differences like this elsewhere in other races.

To my knowledge if you choose a certain weight at the begining you are that weight forever. Unless you carry more things. Wearing chain armours would make you heavier obviously.

To be honest I have never seen a very short human fight a very tall human. But using some common sense, I would conclude that the shorter human would hit lower parts on the very tall human. And the Very tall human would tend to hit the head or torso of the smaller human.

And specials are like this as well. A very tall human will aim for the neck. A short dwarf for the groin when elbowing when their skill level is lower in elbow.

I'm not sure, but my own experience says plump or fat people can carry more volume in their inventory (may not be true, just a guess)

I also wonder why the sizes are called plump and fat. In character creation one chooses a body type like large.. Being fat could be something that can be affected in game (eating/jogging -.-)

Height and weight are mostly cosmetic, with the exception of the attack range. Criticals, however, are not dependent on whether you are skinny or fat for an elf.
