pulling NPCs together - Please stop it

If it's no bug or an idea, but it's still MUD-related, it goes here.

pulling NPCs together - Please stop it

#1 Post by glorfindel » Fri Mar 09, 2012 2:06 pm

Greetings,

I have to ask something of you all, something that I think borders on abuse of the system (in my eyes) and should never be done. If you know there's a group of NPC's somewhere and you, for whatever reason, want to strengthen that locations defense, do NOT pull them together by running through till they are all in one spot and then do specific things to block their return.

I have seen it before and I have actually died to this. I consider it highly annoying and I do hope we all agree that this is not a 'good' method of playing nor a method that should be employed.

Thanks

Grouping strong monsters with one that pursues, especially in low power areas is very bad form. I mean, if you expect a hobgoblin and run into giants it can be somewhat dismaying to the relatively young.

Agree with both statements.

Usually the most likely culprit of this are players doing "speedruns".

While I am not entirely sure what speed runs means, I think anyone is capable of this and it is pretty frustrating for the young ones.
