Studying Books

If it's no bug or an idea, but it's still MUD-related, it goes here.

Studying Books

#1 Post by Lauriert » Sun Dec 20, 2020 1:52 am

So, as I've found out and other people have pointed out, one can actually speed train by using the stop study command and then studying again, without having to wait for the study session to wear off. This can easily be cheesed. Now I know that study books aren't likely at all to give you ups at higher levels, so maybe this isn't really worth noting unless you're grinding the very first points of a skill. If something is done about it, I think that for language skills specifically, the studying allows you to learn the language by listening even if you're at a very low skill level. But that's just my opinion.

Studying a learnbook costs mana, so the ability to "speed train" with this method is already limited.
Further, the chance of imps from the "study book" command is low - the real use is to "study book" and then walk around with a passive learn bonus during normal training for a while.
