Info/description for skills

#1 Post by stilgar » Wed Jul 13, 2005 7:32 am

Greets!

I think we still lack a descriptions and information on numerous different skills. Adding these would both help newbs and more experienced players. Also, adding those missing descriptions could improve fun and could easily prevent guessings and pointless disputes over matters.

Thx in advance

A list of which skills you have in mind and suggestions for the descriptions/information would make this infinitely more likely to be finished quickly.

Do any of you have suggestions for the text for any of the skill descriptions?

FISHING
This indicates your ability to catch fish from appropriate bodies of water. This skill covers all approaches to fishing, from net fishing to pole fishing. Remember to cook your fish before eating them!

battle scream

The ability to channel your wrath into a single shout. If successful your enemy might get frightened, distracted even unable to fight. Masters of this skill are able to summon these effects on all enemies around them.

Here is a PERFECT description for battlescream

forest lore

This skill indicates how familiar you are with the forest environment. With a good forest lore skill, you are better able to orient yourself within forests, more likely to find herbs, and find it less strenous to travel through these lands.

Erotic lore

This skill indicates how familiar you are with Yanna. With a good erotic lore skill, you are better able to orient yourself within Yanna, more likely to find Yanna's happy zones, and find it less strenous to visit Yanna. As this skill is only raised by visiting Yanna, it should not be considering a mark of honor.

riding

The ability to mount and ride animals. The better your skills, the more likely you are ableto control your mount successfully, and less like it throws you down. Putting saddles and bridles on your mount greatly eases controlling them, though they are not necessary for riding. Masters of this skill can even ride wild animals like boars, wolves, oxes or bulettes.

another PERFECT description I guess

It would be even more perfect, if posting it right after mine hadn't made it super-funny. ;)

As for PERFECTion... well, I have a degree in English, and I'm marrying a copy editor. So...

JUGGLING
This indicates your ability to juggle items, including the use of fancy tricks, without dropping them on your head. Note: Juggling sharp objects can cause injury.

RIDING
This indicates your ability to avoid falling off of a ridden mount.

(I'm not actually sure what the desc should be...considering it's possible to ride really well with a low riding skill, if you have good animal handling.)

RHETORIC
This indicates your ability to please the masses with your preaching. Only used by clerics.

BESEECH DEITY
This indicates your ability to call on your god for assistance. Only used by clerics.

RITUAL
This indicates your ability to perform various religious rituals, such as sacrificing corpses or giving your god's blessing. Only used by clerics.

INSTRUMENT
This indicates your familiarity with musical instruments in general, and affects how well you play them.

ANIMAL LORE
This indicates your knowledge of the anatomy of various creatures, and aids in getting useful parts when you dissect them.

TEACHING
This indicates your ability to train someone in a skill that you know well.

Ok maybe some of these need work, but this is a start heh.

Edit: Had a bit of screwy grammar.

wizard handling

This skill indicates your ability to tame, control, and otherwise get along with wizzies. Beware! Fumbling with this skill might cause you get turned into a sheep, frog or whatever. Masters of this sill can bribe wizzies with beers, chocolate and girls/boys (depending on the wizzie) to code nice features into GEAS.
