Restart from scratch... not.

If it's no bug or an idea, but it's still MUD-related, it goes here.

Restart from scratch... not.

#1 Post by Abharsair » Sat May 16, 2015 2:00 pm

Greetings,

In a couple of days (maybe less, maybe more) we will roll out a quite significant change concerning new characters: Reincarnation.

Basically what it means is that you will be able to permanently retire an old character and create one new character which has most of the old character's skills and some experience. Needless to say that there will be restrictions (not all skills will transfer, and those which do will not be converted 100%) and rules (no equipment/money swapping, no IC knowledge of what your old character knew, etc.), but we will give you more information once we activate the system. As for now, this post is meant to inform you of the planned change and to give you an opportunity to state your concerns/ideas/questions.

Just some thoughts I had/questions.

Reincarnate from same race to a different race?

Would this process take time? I am worried someone would perhaps regrettably reincarnate there character after something bad happens to them IG?

Would you be able to go back to your original character if you felt it was a mistake?

Can you redistribute your stat preference?

Yes.

No. You have to confirm your decision twice and with password, but otherwise it takes no time.
(Actually, now that I think of it, this is a valid point. I'll discuss it with the other wizards. Maybe it would make sense to add a delay in which people could revert their decision.)

Nope. It's absolutely final. While we keep the player files in a backup, we will under no circumstances restore an old character.

You can choose any race, but there is no way back. The old char will be deleted. There is no difference to creating a new char, beside the new chars start with a part of skills of the old one and some combat exp. So the new char will not start from zero.

is the skill loss random? or do all skills just drop by a set amount?

also really cool idea guys... this would definitely bring some old players back i am sure. props to whoever thought of it and the team that put it together

It's a set amount. No random involved.

It was the idea of an ex-player.

So long the name is not in reuse a restoration should be possible.

Truly? I doubt anyone else has ran around as Itenin. Any idea how best to go about initiating this?

For are restoration you must give a good reason. We want no daily delete and restore next day.
IO is also important why the char was deleted.
