Abilities

#1 Post by ghalt » Mon May 30, 2016 12:29 am

A couple of questions about abilities:
Resist heat increases your cold damage
Resist cold increase the fire damage you take
--can you take both abilities? What happens if you do--do they cancel each other and waste ability points?

It seems I can take nightvision as a half-elf--will this do anything? Will my character see better than he does now outside or indoors, or is it a bad ability for them?

I would like to know about the resists as well.

Do half-elves always see the room long description by default like night sight races do? Speaking of a normal Geas night here.

You can take both 'resist heat' and 'resist cold'. It would be even better to take both too negate the negative effect of the other.
The 'night-sight' can not be take by half-elves, elves, dwarves and dark elves. All race with natural improved sight.

Half-elves can see the room's long description at night, but there are some rooms that are completely dark (caves and such).

So does the night vision ability just give this same ability, or does it allow you to see in dark rooms like caves as well?

The 'night-sight' is the same that half-elves have by nature.

Another ability question!

Code: Select all

talent:
Grants you a learn bonus for one skill and makes the skill immune
against skill droping. The skills limits are ignored, too.
Works with all skills besides the lore skill and some magic skills.
Every additional level lets you choose an additional skill
use: automatical
What does the line "The skill limits are ignored, too" mean?

Skill Limits

#7 Post by anglachel » Mon Jun 20, 2016 11:17 am

There are two skill limits.

The first base of correspondent stat(s) of the skills.
If a skill base as example on DEX and your char is very clumsy the skill maximum can be under 100.

The second base on maximum of skill points your char can learn.
It compared with sum of the skills over specific value. (Very low skills does not count)

There are two borders for the skill depending on the limits and some boni.
If the skill under the first border, no of the limits will have an effect.
If skill is between the first and second border the skill improve is slow down.

If your char have a talent for a skill the limits are always ignored and the skill does not count to the skill sum.

But no player is danger to that (s)he can learn nothing, Even the very big ones away from from point there
skill improves drop to zero. The char age is a part of the maximum so that it slowly and constantly rise,
even then all other (stats) do not rise.

A further question:
Does the Resist Heat ability protect against fire attacks, being on fire, and similiar things, or does it simply protect you from environmental heat?

Does the Resist Cold ability protect against things like ice spells and thurse blades, or does it only protect you from arctic and tundra coldness?

Resist Heat and Resist cold helps against natural heat and coldness and their negative effects.
Against fire and magic it have no effect.

Could I ask approximately how effective a single level of resist cold/heat are?

For example, will it generally shift temperatures by only a single line from 'help temperature' or will it have more impact than that?

This can not said in levels.
It raises the maxinum of heat and cold you can resist.
So every level will be bit extented, so
at one point it will be a half level, the a full and
at the end even two level

So, to make sure I understand, it's like a +50/100/200% bonus?

Thanks! :)
