Election day is here and I am bracing for our new socialist gov't to take away my wages and disperse them neatly amongst the lazy and unworthy(just kidding... or am I ). Anyways, was hoping some of you would make your vote public so I might transfer my OOC contempt for you into IC PVP

For my part, I have already voted early: McCain has at least 1 vote in FL so far. My decision based mostly on foreign policy issues.

I'm not sure if McCain or the Republican Party are popular anywhere outside of the US.

I do grow tired of Republicans and Democrats alike that have the obsessive need to chastise, insult, or degrade people or people's opinions that don't agree with their personal beliefs. I think it's pretty immature the country can't have different opinions without being at each other's throats about it.

I think I don't care who wins so much as I'd like to see people put more time and energy into improving the country than attacking each other's views.

Well, when you have different views as to what will improve/worsen the country its difficult not to argue when the opposing side believes just as strongly as you. My suggestion is to appreciate all the chastising, insulting and degradation for its entertainment value.

Luckily, only US citizens vote though that might change when Obama is elected.

I do not expect much change or improvements from any of them. But having Palin as vice-president of the old and not-so-healthy McCain would worry me. You'd be better off with Homer Simpson than with her.

I don't really like Obama and fear the extent of his socialistic plans. However, I can't vote for McCain because he's pro-war and he's got that scary Palin running with him. The Republican party these days scares me with its claims that it's the most patriotic, pro-American party. Palin really gets to me - she's an admitted and proud young earth creationist. I must vote for someone rational, even if I don't agree with all of their ideas. She is far too close to the Presidency, especially with the precedent of vice presidential power set by Dick Cheney.

I find it very hard to vote for a man that goes to a hospital to visit wounded soldiers then decides he will not do it, if the media isn't present. So he goes to work out instead.

If only Ross Perot would run again!

As for places that like McCain outside of the United States: Iraq, Albania, Israel. I'm not sure about Afghanistan.

Iraqis would benefit from their country not being thrown into civil war by Iranian agents, Albanians are grateful for the consequences of a hawkish foreign policy, and the Republicans are unquestioning supporters of Israeli policies.

Despite living just down the street from Obama, I voted for McCain because abortion is a grave moral evil, and the life and dignity of the human person trumps all other considerations, such as financial stability and social justice. Obama has promised Planned Parenthood that his first act in office would be signing into law the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA), eliminating all state-level restrictions on abortion, from parental notification statutes to waiting periods and the prohibition on partial-birth abortions.

Although I like Obama very much and find him a talented young politician, I cannot vote in good conscience for such a man without a morally proportional reason for doing so.

Were not the individual states laws supposed to be the deciding factor in all cases when the constitution was written? It seems the exact opposite now. Federal law over rules all.

They keep declaring states when only 0-10% votes are counted, though. And Alaska hasn't even closed polls yet, heh. But from what I hear with updates, McCain already conceded.

I had a prediction Obama would have over twice as many electoral votes as McCain, so far that's accurate.

I also predicted Missouri to go McCain. I still hope it does out of spite of the Bellwether trend.

I'm going to be amused if Arizona ends up going blue. Kind of sad that it's actually ended up being a disputed state. (EDIT: It went red after all)

Looks like Democrats hold majority in Senate and House as of now, too. Sweeping victory for the donkeys.

They actually have statistically sound methods to predict it within a pretty good confidence interval. A certain small percent of votes counted is still a huge amount of votes and a decent representative sample.

McCain's concession was really good. He kept defending Obama when his supporters booed.

What I found amusing was them declaring Obama the winner literally just as the west coast polls closed.

I could see all the media hunched in silence, waiting with bated breath for the report.

"California polls ha-""OBAMA WINS! OBAMA WINS!"

Loads of people near my house tore off in cars and started honking loudly, shooting off fireworks, and singing (generally) badly.

Whereas I had a different reaction. The startled and horrified cries of many who are now convinced by the republican national committee that they'll be shipped to the Middle-East and Africa as slaves.

Ive been trapped in an office with 5 democrats who have been giggling a giddy babble for the past hour. 1 is crying and all are lauding Obama as the greatest person of this generation. The potential for this presidency to become a cult of personality is scary to me. Well, if in the coming weeks peace is declared in the Middle East, the Dome of the Rock is moved, the Holy Temple is rebuilt and half your friends dissappear into thin air....
