Heavy Armour
Correct me if I'm wrong, but there seems to be no guild that actually encourages the use of heavy plate armour. The heaviest I usually see is chain. Given, I haven't taken a good look at Lumi, but it's just what I've seen so far.

Re: Heavy Armour
Heavy armour does not allow for the flickup-move which is more or less seen as a necessity for survival. That is the reason few, if any people use heavy armour. Heavy armour also(correct me if I am wrong)interferes with most magical abilities which is the reason Crusaders use chain and not plate.
But yes...I think I perfectly remember only one character who actively used heavy armour despite all the drawbacks. Praise Nogem, the only human who actually used Arborean steel.

Re: Heavy Armour
Lumi is a chain boy. Only plate helmet and shield. And plate doesn't affect our magical abilities, I just like flickup.

Re: Heavy Armour
Chain doesnt allow for flickup until the character is agile enough to flick up wearing it.
Urlyth wears chain and she trained agility enough to be able to flickup.
Pretty sure Jalil did too when he was around.........where is Jalil?

Re: Heavy Armour
They also seem a bit heavier, for weak characters weight can be an issue (even if armour for smaller folks weighs less than for i.e. a huge tshahark).
Haven't seen a plateling yet (a halfling in full suit of plate armour)

Re: Heavy Armour
I think the fact that halfling items weigh less than human or tshahark items are completely offset by the fact that halflings are very very weak individuals in general. Dwarves are fairly lucky this way, since their armours are smaller and weigh less, but their strength is actually better than a human. However they seem to suffer from a great lack of dexterity and agility in my experience. (Luminier always runs circles around most any dwarf)
It would be pretty useless to have a halfling in plate armour. Plate restricts the effectiveness of Agility. Halflings have very little "going for them" in terms of combat. What halflings do have is agility and dexterity. Alot of dexterous things are done from the shadow, and you can't sneak much in plate. Alot of quick things are done in leather or chain, and plate is not leather.
As I recall i have been told that "The Order" used to use some plate or plate-like items, but as far as I know that is the only guild that came close to using plate as a type of armour.
Plate is generally reserved for those with strength of arm.

Re: Heavy Armour
Could have been a statue of a plateling, especially if it appeared immobile.I just did
More like ... a turtling, extremely helpless if on its back. The turtling would have to actively roll around in order to regain balance (and stand up).
That works - until the halfling is actually hit!It would be pretty useless to have a halfling in plate armour. Plate restricts the effectiveness of Agility.
But still... if anyone wants to play a turtling.... *wink*
Best race: halflings.

You'll never see it coming if he stays hidden!
Though the moment you'd see him in plate mail stomping through the forest, cursing the low branches ... I am not sure that would still be a sight causing you to run away.

Ahhh, shit. I hadn't thought of that movie in years...now I can't stop thinking about Matusalem shouting "Lend me your ears!", and then people actually lending them to him...rafael wrote:Absolutely! I was going to link to the photoshop of the movie poster that Abharsair posted a while back for old time's sake but it's down.Andreati wrote:Ahhh, shit. Hmm... they killed off Geocities. What a shame. But luckily my hard drive had some backups of my... uhm... creative phases, so I uploaded them to the forum directly.
