That's horrible. I was under the impression that this was already highly frowned upon (see help fair play).

Your enemy should receive harsh IC sanctions (without going eye-for-an-eye) and also deserves an OOC warning. It's not that it's something you're strictly unable to do, but it better be warranted ICly and OOCly. That's way not cool.

That is not good at all. The rangers gear is extremely expensive and to collect tunics and such again is just annoying. I can see why Arwenth is really upset.

Agreed. I might be taking a small break from Geas as a result of this. I don't particularly want to spend the time that it is going to take to replace -all- of my items, on top of training back from another death. I'll be back in a few days.

edit - I'd also like to thank poGanon for just being awesome.

These kind of situations will easily escalate into "loot wars" or anykind of other circle of hate which was bit of a problem during the bygone days. While sometimes it is perfectly alright to mess with your opponents(I'd hate to see such behaviour completely removed from the game), there is some fine line to walk which is not usually readily apparent.

Good ol' looting days. :)

Problem was always the OOC component IMO, because it was just annoying to make up for the lost stuff.

In all fairness and it sucking a lot, looting is still an IC action. I agree though that it'll usually hardly lead to anything particularly fascinating when one has to spend time recovering lost stuff.

Just listen to Luminier and kill them repeatedly until they figure out that it's not nice to burn/destroy expensive things.

If you are speaking about the battle on the rock, maybe have a look at the log and you will see that the revenant used fire miracles and set you on fire.

In that case I can understand that you are upset. Personally, I'm against looting corpses or destroying items. I'd be very pissed if I'd lose my equipment.

I checked the logs and figured it would be a good thing to clear things up. The darkelf in question isn't really to blame, because it was the revenant who set things on fire:

Code: Select all

The ghastly mutilated male ogre revenant clasps his his hands together and a bolt of fire shoots forth, hitting Damanta hard.
The left strong leather boot of Damanta starts to burn.
The right strong leather boot of Damanta starts to burn.
The ornamented leather quiver of Damanta starts to burn.
The eagle-shaped mask of Damanta starts to burn.
Later when the darkelf looked at the corpse:

Code: Select all

This is the dead body of Damanta.
The corpse contains:
... a left strong leather boot (burning), an ornamented leather quiver (burning), a right strong leather boot (burning), ....
And again later:

Code: Select all

>butcher corpse
You butcher the corpse, getting a bit of meat out of it.
>butcher 2. corpse
You butcher the corpse, getting little meat out of it.
>The corpse of Damanta (butchered) starts to burn.
butcher 3. corpse
You butcher the corpse, getting some meat out of it.
>butcher 4. corpse
You butcher the corpse, getting some meat out of it.
Problem was that the items which were set on fire in the inventory then set the entire corpse on fire after Damanta died. So while the whole incident is quite unfortunate, it wasn't really any Sathos fault, and I hope poDamanta will quickly overcome his understandable frustration.

I knew this was going to happen, tried to prevent it. I had already sent calls to some of the people involved, though they may have logged off so not gotten the calls. Also sent a mail to the person who was crapped on the most (damanta).

That award goes traditionally to Turian. Or to quote him: "Evil? You're not evil. You're just mean. Evil requires class."
