Depends how much you know... :/ The short answer is probably that you need to know what you are doing. And you need a machine somewhere that can run the proxy. I have one running... on my university.. which I left like 4 years ago. Erm.. my university is better than yours.

I can't write a step-by-step.. you need to find a program.. easiest is probably to get something like HTTP-to-SSH working

The entire time I was there (1 horrible year) I did not see a single attractive girl who wasn't surrounded by a mob of dorks.

Have you tried going through the cached page @ google?

If its just the ports... I know a couple of muds that offered not only one port to connect to, but two, the second usually being 8000 or 8080 which are not blocked by most firewall configurations since its the standard http or https ports, so it might be an idea to ask the admins whether a second port would make sense.
