Does sharpening help your stats recover?

AFK/idle sharpening, I doubt it.

Sharpening while actively doing commands and other things, most likely yes.

I think it doesn't really matter what you're doing, as long as you're doing something actively, it should help recover vitality.

Even just having conversation with others at markets or the crossing can help recover it (which is how I usually recover Tessa's deaths).

I don't see why sharpening wouldn't help you recover. It's actively practicing a skill (sharpening).

I guess when they say actively, they're actually taking into consideration the times where you "type in a command".

That makes sense, or else, a cleric could easily recover from a death typing "preach" and then spamming a long preach for 10 minutes before resting a little and typing "preach" after 15 minutes.

That's why there is a rumour that fighting helps you recover faster, because obviously, in a fight you're continously typing command likes hp, aim, specials, etc etc

Or at least that's what I think.

That's my train of thought too, so you're not alone.

So it's the constant typing of stat influencing things? I wouldn't think sitting and sharpening for hours would be a good idea at any time, obviously, but practicing sharpening for 30 or so minutes OOC sounds like a reasonable way to peacefully recover after dying. If it doesn't contribute to recovery, then I guess I am wrong :P

But then you get situations where people can just log on and idle sharpen/sing/whatever for hours and hours until their death gets recovered without them having to really work on it.
